Here is one predictable outcome: at clinics and hospitals, frightened people who arrive with what are labeled “early signs” of Ebola will be labeled as probable cases. What are those symptoms? Fever, chill, sore throat, cough, headache, joint pain. Sound familiar? Normally, this would just be called the flu.  What’s (intentionally) missing in all this an understanding of the immune system. Generally speaking, a germ doesn’t stand a chance of causing serious illness when the immune system is strong.

Sheila “Turn in Your Guns” Jackson Lee is a gaffe queen (who, incidentally, demands to be treated like a real queen by staffers).  Admittedly, some of Jackson Lee’s, er, more “zany” antics, have been harmless and quite amusing, like when she demanded that more hurricanes be given African-American sounding names, tried to close a public hallway for her visit with Michael Jackson, and claimed she was once a slave.  But, some of her actions and statements are more serious, and a few are downright disturbing.

Why I am going low tech to prep for an EMP

We’ve all read many articles about the likelihood of grid failure. We’ve been warned again and again that it isn’t a matter of if, but when, it happens.  Because of this, a lot of people are preparing for a very different future.  Folks are getting ready for the Big Blackout.  The thing is, I am not sure everyone is thinking this through.  Many people are spending buckets of money on preparations to try to keep their lives as similar as possible to how they are today. They’re investing in diesel generators and Faraday cages to protect their electronics. They are buying propane-fueled appliances.  They’re stashing away fuel to run these gadgets.
